This means L’Arche can send an official delegation from across our Federation of 37 countries to the Conference of the States Parties (COSP), held annually at the U.N. Headquarters in New York.
Last year’s effort brought L’Arche representatives from Canada and the U.S. to join L’Arche International. The June event is an opportunity for L’Arche to weigh in on priorities and policies that impact people living with disabilities around the world.
Each organization may send up to 10 delegates as representatives. L’Arche International will coordinate this year’s presence, with more information available soon about participation.
“Participating in COSP is a phenomenal opportunity to work alongside others who share our vision of a world where everyone belongs,” L’Arche USA National Leader Laura Giddings said. “We aim to create space for people living with disabilities to be heard in a prominent place of influence.”
